It Only Takes ONE as We Begin
Our Second Year of Partnering
with the Boys and Girls Club

It just takes one person to make a lasting difference in the life of a child.  You can be the person to make a positive difference in the life of an at-risk child.  In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. The Club is truly the “Positive Place For Kids.”
How can you possibly make a difference?  Easy answer: contribute $12 to the club to sponsor a child for the entire school year; give one hour of your time to support the kids as they do their homework; give one hour of your time to eat dinner with the kids and their families.  Simple, effective, and you will experience the benefits of making a difference in the life of a child.  Please contact Pastor Pamela to find out how you can be the ONE.

The Wednesday Night supper program for the Boys and Girls Club and our congregation will continue throughout the year.  It has been a joy to get to know our neighbors and make friends with the children in the club.  The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley are advocates for youth and address the needs of the whole child.  Club programs focus on character and leadership development; education and career development; health and life skills; the arts, and sports, fitness, and recreation.  Working together, we can give young people the tools and support they need to succeed in school, be people of upstanding character, and lead healthy lives.  It has been a great year of getting to know our Davenport Club, and allowing God to be at work within us—and being open to God’s remarkable gifts to us in table fellowship. Wednesday suppers will be served from 5:00 - 5:30 pm.  You are welcome to help serve and to enjoy the fellowship meal with First Church friends.
