Celtic Sunday, September 19, services at 9:00 and 11:00 am
First Presbyterian Church honors its Scottish and Celtic heritage on Sunday, September 19.  Welsh and Irish hymns will be sung by the congregation. The liturgy (Prayer of Confession and Assurance of Pardon) which will be used is from the community of Iona, Scotland. The Rev. Pamela Hoogheem will be preaching that morning. One will see kilts and tartan skirts on people who treasure their Scottish and Irish heritage.
During the service there will be a Dedication and Blessing of Celtic Heritages. Anyone who desires may bring a symbol of their Celtic heritage such as a piece of tartan fabric or an Irish shamrock and present that symbol for a blessing. Anyone with Celtic heritage in the family background is encouraged to wear something that represents that heritage. If that person has a “clan,” the clan name may be announced. Please join First Church members and friends, whether you are of Celtic descent or not, as First Church recognizes those roots which have helped to mold and make this church what it is today.
