It’s official!

The Rev. Richard Miller has accepted the call to be Head of Staff and Senior Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Davenport, IA. The Rev. Miller received an overwhelming vote of support at the congregational meeting on June 1, 2008. He will officially join the staff on Sunday, August 10. With great joy and anticipation, the community of First Presbyterian Church looks forward to his guidance and leadership.

A quote from Richard sums up his passion for ministry, “I depend on the gifts of the community to which God has called me. When gifts are discovered and shared, we begin to live out God's vision for our community. As a preacher and a pastor, I want to participate in fostering a strong Christian community that shares ministry through a spirit of integrity and mutual accountability. Two words describe my approach with people: Relating and Caring. I believe a pastor needs to be a person who can put people at ease, is non-judgmental, and has a good sense of humor. A minister must be sensitive to the needs of those around him or her and be willing to get involved in the hurts and pains that often spring from those needs.”
