Your Contribution Makes a Difference

The music department at First Presbyterian Church is pleased to announce the twenty-ninth season of The Performing Arts Series, albeit with some important temporary changes as we continue to navigate how the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the arts.

Our plan is to offer a half-season that will begin mid-March and last until mid-May. It is our hope that the delayed start provides enough time for the world to return to a state of normalcy, and that it will be safe to hold in-person concerts. On March 13th we are excited to welcome Hannah Holman, the beloved principal cellist of the QCSO, for a concert of solo and accompanied cello music. On April 2nd we reignite FPC’s tradition of marking the crucifixion of Christ through readings and song at our Good Friday Tenebrae service, featuring choirs and chamber orchestra. Principal organist and assistant director of music Alex Gilson will again captivate all of us with his annual recital on the Magnusson Memorial Organ on May 1st. Augustana piano professor Juliana Han caps the season with a special free recital on the afternoon of May 16. Additionally, FPC’s production of the Tony award-winning Broadway musical Guys and Dolls has been rescheduled from last season to April 17th and 18th.

Presenting such a season provides an opportunity to give back to the church, without which there would be no Performing Arts Series. In that spirit, we would like to ask our benefactor patrons to maintain their giving level from last season with the understanding that half of the donations will go to support the series, and the other half will be gifted to the church’s general fund. This temporary “50/50” fundraising plan allows for the continuation of our church’s rich history of providing the highest level of artistic excellence while also aiding the many other great ministries of FPC. If you do not wish for your donation to be divided, you may indicate on the ticket order form.
