Youth Ministry
6th - 12 Grade

We strive to nurture youth through a justice-oriented ministry grounded in the values of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Rooted in the Matthew 25 initiative, our programs help young people grow in faith while learning to build community, confront racism, and care for those in need—empowering them to live out God's call to love, justice, and compassion.

Youth Worship Volunteers

Youth at First Presbyterian Church are encouraged to take an active role in worship by serving in a variety of leadership roles. Opportunities include reading scripture and prayers as liturgists, serving as acolytes, singing or playing instruments in worship, and helping with audio/visual support. These experiences help youth grow in faith, develop leadership skills, and feel a deep sense of belonging in the church community. By participating in worship, our young people learn that their voices, gifts, and presence matter in the life of the church.

Confirmation

The Confirmation program at First Presbyterian Church of Davenport is a three-year journey of faith designed for youth in 6th grade and above. Meeting during the Sunday School hour, this program helps young people explore what it means to be a follower of Christ and a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Through Bible study, discussion, service projects, retreats, and mentorship, youth are invited to ask questions, deepen their faith, and discover their unique role in the church. At the end of the program, participants may choose to make a public profession of faith and become confirmed members of the congregation.

High School Helpers

High School Helpers are older youth who generously volunteer to assist with the elementary Sunday School classes. This program provides meaningful opportunities for high school students to develop leadership skills, build relationships across generations, and serve as positive role models for younger children. By supporting teachers and engaging with kids during Sunday School, High School Helpers play an important role in nurturing a welcoming and faith-filled environment for all ages.
